thanks bikewiz ill try placing mine in 100 degree water and see if it trips it...and the one im looking at is not a minispare....theirs is a 40mm core and if im going to swap the rad. out ill go with a 50mm core
original questions still stand unanswered
The plastic plug that was in my Minispares rad measures 21.5mm x 1.5 thread. As per my original post I'm pretty sure sender is engraved 92-82 it's really hard to see in the car but the listing on Minispares lists it as such.

The SPI radiator usually does a good job. If you replace it check into the super 2 core one it works better than some of the larger ones.

I have the C-ARA4445 screw in sender it's rated to turn on at 92 degree C/197 F and off at 82 degree C/180F I haven't checked mine to see if it does what it's supposed to but it does turn on as the car warms and stays on until it cools. The screw it type is better than the original but as you've figured out you need to change the radiator. If you're using one of the Minispares rads it fits.

anyone knw what temp this sender engages at?
//www.minimania.com/part/GVS104/Radiator-Switch-Spi-Mini--Mini-Cooper-Incl-Seal-cdu2334
would like to test mine and the temp would help...
also debating on going with a new radiator completely that would mean i would have to switch to this...
//www.minimania.com/part/C-ARA4445/Radiator-Unit-Sender-Switch-For-C-ara4443-c-ara5000
anyone know the threat count and pitch on the plug so I can make sure it matches the radiator I have in mind
thanks in advance!
