Bless you for helping the family out. Price seems appropriate, there is a buyer out there, just need to keep advertising & mentioning. I, however, do not need anymore projects.

If there's anyone who has already spoken to me about this car and who still might be interested in it, I urge you to reach out to the owner asap using the contact info I already provided you as I gave her notice that it will need to be sold or returned to her as it can't stay here past the end of May. I do not want to be held responsible for the gradual degradation of the sitting parts and car.

In my earnest assessment, this is very much worth $10K to the person with the right skillset. The motorcycle drivetrain, IMHO, is a throw-away and it would be far better to just return to A-series FWD. The custom rwd subframe and swingarms and brake bracket/hub welding are a LeMons-grade job. Caveat Emptor if you want to reuse the motorcycle stuff. Bike motor Ran When Parked (removed). Threw Chains. Leaked Oil I think I heard.

I believe the amalgam of parts are best used in a future project or projects, and in a matter of 2 to 4 weekends, this thing can be made a reliable driver if you already have in your possession a donor motor.

I've sussed out more than a dozen potential, interested buyers and sent the on to the widow/owner. I'm no longer willing to do this job, and I'm not willing to fwd 30 pics and exchange emails.

I reached out to BAT a while back, they say they will take it on a no-reserve auction and that I needed to document all that is there. Again.  She won't sell it without a reserve, and I'm not going through the effort to itemize it. I'm not a broker. I'm a friend.

And yes, I gave her MiniGuy's info to broker it for her, but I'm unwilling to do all the work required to make sure she calls him and unwilling to get him what he needs to broker it.

Call her. Be polite. Be respectful. Make her an offer. Worst she can say is No.

Spank, Out.

Just decided this would not work good for me at the moment. There is still a couple of days for someone to get this and have it brought back to the southeast area by the guy headed this way with a trailer.

I think this would be an intersteing submission to Bring a Trailer...

Odd + needing work + oppertunitiy for something different + people to learn about interesting vehicles = bring a trailer.

Bring a trailer can go 2 ways =  Phones ringing off the hook / or  = alot of Internet banter  No Confirmed sales ( personal experience)

if you cant sell locally - time to go big!

GOODLUCK !  Wish i had the Cajones to take it on!  Wrong side of the country!

Will someone buy this darn thing so I don't have to? There's only one car I'd travel that far to pick up (hint hint) but I could be convinced for a heck of a deal like this.

I'm not coming back here for another month while I try to forget about the Marcos. Don't make me pull out my US cheque, er, check book.

I think it is important to remember that if you have nothing nice to say, consider not saying anything at all.

I think this is a very cool project, at a fair price. I think a person with the capital and some skills could build a nice mini from this. They would be able to finish this without being in over their head.

I would further venture to say that this car could be purchased, fixed and completed with an additional investment of three to five thousand dollars, and when complete it could sell at about $5000 profit.

Best of luck selling this for these people Spank.

man, i sure like the 1967 you put a link to,  very sweet.    i hope she sells it and gets as much as possible,  if i was to pass suddenly i would want car friends to help my wife and girls sell off my cars and sheds of parts as honestly as possible.

Your opinion is not more valid than any others. In this instance, I stand behind my CCF claim. You have not seen either the Marcos that is in my possession nor have you see the one you link to.

And please, dont try to interpret what I think.

I state clearly what I think: The complete project with all the included parts are fairly valued at $10K. Period.

Here are more you and I have not seen in person

Spank. I am voicing a valid opinion that I'm sure others also have and I think you do to. Its clear to me the family is not really interested in selling and you more or less confirm that. Good on you for helping out but there's no reason for being sarcastic.

dude Larry just settled an opinion! its not your car after all, dont take it so personally. If you think this car deserves more, tell the widow to ebay it on reserve, job done and less fuss in your hands.

I assure you I offered her as much advice as I felt she could bare.

I also feel the complete project with all the parts that are included are worth at minimum the $10K price she has stated.

I did also council her on what I can now dub, The CupCake Factor (CCF for short). This is why I am both spreading the word and filtering the "interest". I will also bring back to her any and all sincere offers people who have seen the car in person are willing to stand behind. with cold, hard cash. Everythig else is CCF.

The family has said time and time again "We are not liquidating" and they can and will store cars until the right buyer + price / (effort + expense) can be found. The family is also ready to begin parting out cars when they feel that time comes.

Additionally, there are local resources willing to donate their time as warranted to continue the project or to otherwise change the current state of it so as to help the family achieve its desired outcome.

having sold him the car i can assure you he DID NOT over pay when he bought it or for what he paid in shipping fees.    however since it was running and driving when he got it and now it is a disassembled project i do not see how this increases it's value, just my 2 cents, and i am not sure i would be comfortable or not making his wife an offer, it sounds like spank said she was pretty firm on her asking price.

Spank, the widow needs to be realistic in her expectations. I appreciate her emotional attachment to it but the price is not the sum of the cost of the parts her husband assembled. The price needs to be discounted by the cost to turn it into a comparable running vehicle. On the other hand she might get lucky and find somebody in need of a project.

Maybe so Larry but when you add shipping from the UK, insurance, transport to the docks, broker fees, port fees, customs, and if it clears through all that mess into California then the registering of it it seems a lot more feasable plus you can look before you buy a lot cheaper than you can with the UK one. It always seems to me that anything already registered in California compared to other States is worth (in sellers eyes) a premium of $2 to $3k more and yes a lot of sellers seem to get it. Lack of airflow makes it a deal killer in Florida. GLWTS Spank.

Thanks, CC. I knew I could count on you for your help.

I'll let the widow know that her husband overpaid, paid too much for shipping, and paid too much for all of the additional new and machined parts that are included.

It seems expensive for a project. Here's a complete one for the same price.
