Clearly our host have a solution to fit the rc40 front pipe into a stock mini exhaust main pipe.

//www.minimania.com/part/LDP2/Austin-Mini-Exhaust-Sleeve-Reducer-Pipe-175-To-Standard-Bore

Still, you will want the proper mounts.

//www.minimania.com/part/GEX7249/Exhaust-Hanger-Bracket-Rear---Mini--Mini-Cooper

That bracket used to come in a kit with the rubber mounts and the bracket and mount for the front of the rear subframe. You want to renew all mounts at this time.

maybe someone with actual knowledge can chime in on the tailpipe needs of a moke.

I have seen them on the shelves in the local parts stores but never looked at the sizes and the Mini pea shooter is small compared to US cars. Power wise it should not affect the Moke, it may even help a little. You may find something on ebay or take up Dan on his offer.
Miguel, if you get a good deal on the RC40, go for it. The "plumbing issues" will be the same, but the RC40 is a much better build. If you look at my first pic, you can see the muffler has a reducer that also contains a filler "sleeve" between it and the exhaust pipe. Not pretty.  The second pic is the outlet end into a 2" straight tailpipe. The 3rd pic is the front end, swaged to fit onto the out end of a Freeflow manifold.

I posted the pictures to show the challenges. But it is all yours if you need it. One thing about the cherry bomb - it is just about bullet-proof. (Loud too.)

Having gone through more or less the same exercise (my car arrives with a 1275 connected to a leaky pea-shooter) I had for a while, a cherry bomb which had 2" inlet/outlet. Locally (I'm across the river from Miguel) I found it difficult to find adapters 2" down to 1.75" and 1.75" down to peas-shooter. Local chain muffler shop did not have small pipe or the mandrels to bend it. They could make me a custom 1.75" exhaust pipe (from electrical conduit)  with the required gentle bends to get around the shifter.

Miguel: you can have it if you want it.

There are a few things to consider:

a header is always a useful addition, though the process of making an adapter for your existing downpipe, or even creating a new one is nothing for a decent muffler shop. The restrictive stock exhaust and the hot spot on the stock manifold rob the engine of power, a header and an RC40 will bring some more out.

The RC 40 is best fastened with all new mounts, brackets and buttons, as the Cooper S size, as in the parts catalogues.

The Moke has a longer wheelbase. You may need to extend the main pipe, and then you may need to extend the tailpipe for it to fit neatly. None of these are particularly difficult, but these will need to be addressed.

It will work but you will need a reducer to make it fit onto the pea shooter stock pipe.

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to buy an used RC40 at a good price, The exhaust on my Moke has too many speed holes and it needs to be replaced.

Will the RC40 work well with my stock 850 and stock header?

Thank you!

Miguel
