Hunter,
I think you should get quotes on sending your stuff to Germany and a return as a comparable. It might turn out to actually be cheaper than going direct in country. I can't understand why but what you said.
BTW, did the roof arrive?

Am in the process of shipping a mini 1275 from Niagara to Raleigh NC in an enclosed trailer
Door to door in a 6 car enclosed trailer with the hydraulic lift unit
My quote from Mackie Car Haulers in Oshawa, $1400.00 CND
I would do it myself but with weird weather in the N/East, price of petrol, my time, (2 days) it just makes sense to let a professional handle it

That is unbelievable! I'm in the process of getting my Moke parts ordered from the UK and am wondering what the hit will be from there?

I was very surprised when a young fellow in Germany was interested in the Smooth Roof I harvested from a badly rotted Morris Traveller. I said. "You must know I'm in Canada...on the Pacific Ocean coast."
He said his Father had said, just get the lowest cost shipping....
So, to end this, I went to my local shipper and asked for a quote to ship a smooth roof to Germany. Shipper will strap etc. and said, "The roof will not be damaged." They send a miscellaneous batch of goods by container every 30-35 days.
$200 to Bremerhaven...I found that hard to believe. If crated because shipping insurance would not cover a $500 item,...$400.
If only such items could get from Vancouver Island to the B.C. mainland at such rates.
