Regardless of your perspective, it means we need to be more diligent when reading/viewing content so we're not taken for a ride ourselves, or worse repeating things that are not true.
We also need to draw a clear line between opinion and fact, both in what we take in and in what we communicate to others.
Like Nkerr, I skip over what I recognize as cr*p, and move on to opinions and facts from those I trust (even if I don't agree with them).
Off soapbox, please stay positive and active here!

So, as a result, our hosts see his behavior as a basically neutral thing, not destructive and counterproductive.
I have had to get into the habit of checking thread authors, and the name of a responder to a thread. When I see his name I skip reading it and move my eyes directly to the next one. Much more relaxing than reading his crap. I keep coming here because there are some truly great helpers here. I just wish this site wasn't polluted by his either stupid or willfully ignorant mis information (the former could be improved but the evidence is it is the latter (because it doesn't improve), which means it is deliberate).
Who knows, maybe our hosts see him as "clickbait" (if so, that would make me sad and disappointed, but not surprised, because a business is a business).

Whoever it is - and there have been some interesting names put forward away from here - there is tacit approval from higher up.

A long timer here too........yes, it's recently degraded into a wallowing cesspool of misinformation and poor advice, interspersed of course with fine threads from some regulars (who grit their teeth and bear it) too !
A true true shame.

No, I'm real, and many old time members know who I am. I've had a Mini for 25 years and I only ask questions when I'm truly stumped. (which isn't often)
I just feel disappointed about what used to be the be all-end all of Mini knowledge has degraded to the point it is now. Maybe it is the growth of other forms of Social Media that has far more restrictive requirements. Truly, the misinformation posted on the forum has led me to other sources of information. My wish for this forum is that it could somehow verify it's members and the information they post. I know it's a pipe dream, and the cost involved precluded a an intervention, but the respected members (and you know who they are) could seriously ignore the person that has cause 90% of the discord. Remember, if it doesn't begin with "Once upon a time..." and end with "
...Happily ever after" you can ignore it.

It's been a long time since I posted on MiniMania, but I check in a couple times a week just to see if there anything new. Certain elements in the forum have been very entertaining and reminded me of something.
A couple of years ago, when I got back from my first overseas tour as a Platoon Sergeant(E-7), I found that had gotten a number of new Soldiers that were fresh out of basic training that had never deployed and had pretty much zero experience. One of these guys was an E-4 (look it up, not a corporal) who thought he knew everything.
Often he would walk up to a conversation between senior non-comissioned officers (NCOs) and spout his uninformed and bogus opinions that he swore was a fact.
At first we thought it was funny, but this guy thought we were laughing with him instead of laughing at him, which made it that much funnier.
Eventually, I got tired of this guy's bullcrap, and finally hemmed him up and told him stop spreading his made-up garbage. Bottom line was the fool didn't know what he was talking about, and he was going to get someone hurt.
Of course he didn't listen and he kept running his mouth about all sorts of things. Finally, I had enough.
I pulled this guy aside and told him the next time he talked to me, or any other NCO, he had to begin with the phrase "Once upon a time..." and end with the phrase "...happily ever after".
For the next few months, if he didn't start and end with the right phrases, he was basically ignored.
Just funny to me and strikes a cord with what I've seen on the MM board for a while.
