Another "simple stuff." Remove the reverse lock out plate. Check it out. See if the lift to shift problem goes away.

check the simple stuff first.  Look at the condition of all the mounts and rubber underneath and look for a missing bolt or roll pin.

Steve / cooper tune here on the board re builds them. As you have to lift up you probably have an issue inside the aluminum housing with the reverse gate.

I am experiencing some issues shifting into 3rd and 4th.   I need to lift up on the shift lever, (i.e. kinda pull up on the shift knob) in order to get the car to shift into 3rd or 4th.  Has anyone seen this issue before.
