Looks like most twin carb set ups with a pcv i have seen. Not for sure but maybe earlier tc's had that vent connected to the rocker cover if they came without the pcv system.
EDIT: June 1964 was when the pcv system was introduced to the Cooper line up and the rocker cover breather tube was deleted. The earlier Coopers without the pcv had their rocker covers connected to the air cleaner with a hose.

I believe the valve cover with the vent tube to match is a 12 A 1196. I have used them on 850s for Mokes with the single carb air cleaner. Works the same way. I'll look for a picture. Steve (CTR)

Mine has the "sticky out bit" and the hole. However, the nipple has never had anything attached to it since I have owned the car. I do have the regular PCV setup though. It makes no connection to the air filter housing.

Have you actually checked it has a hole all the way through. Some have the sticky out bit but there is no connection to the inside of the air box.
Why???? Only the MOWOG knows...

Probably a hose connected it to the vent tube coming out of the top of the early rocker covers. Or possibly on an S, connected to a tappet cover vent.

There is a vent on the front left of the stock twin carb air filter housing. Where should the hose connect to?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
