Hello everybody.  I just bought a 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman S - turbo.  The "Check Engine" light is on.  I had the trouble codes read and there were two:  PO597 & PO141.  The 141 is the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter.  The 597 is to do with the thermostat / cooling system; the thermostat may be OPEN too much.  I have not measured the operating water temperature yet, but the engine seems to run cool - probably too cool.  I figured that I would address this code first.  I presume that I need to replace the thermostat, but it seems that most of the parts places offer the complete thermostat housing assembly for around $140.  The housing assembly contains two temperature sensors:  One is round, and held into the housing with a clip and sealed with an "O" Ring;  The other is built into the housing and measures temperature on one of the necks connecting to a hose.

But with all the above, I am not sure whether I am getting to the source of the trouble code.  Is there a conventional mechanical thermostat somewhere else?  I am not seeing how the flow of water is controlled by anything in the housing assembly.  Questions:
* Do you think the thermostat is the problem?
* If so, then where exactly is the thermostat that I need to replace?
* Is there any way that the 597 problem may be causing the 141 O2 sensor code to show a false code?
* Where is the best place to purchase a Service Manual for this car?

Thanks to anybody who can offer any information.
