Doug,

Glad you got the mechanism sorted. Curious as to how the replacement works out, and does your shop install it or do you install it yourself? I need to replace my cover as it has shrunk, and is starting to get a few small cracks. I have thought about looking into a custom canvas replacement made, but am afraid to even get a price :-)

I have a BOC with full length electric sunroof. Thinking about removing it and replacing with a steel roof. Contact me if interested, all parts and works fine. It will require a new cover, current one is fine but has shrunk some over time. Steve (CTR)

If you find a replacement for your roof I would like to know where I can buy the same roof.  I have a British Open 1992.

yes  and thanks for checking in.   i had a interiors guy in my area take it apart.  he actually built a broken plastic slider at the cables front end.  he used steel and it works!  phew.   but the vinyl top has shrunk a bit so he told me only use when warm out.

I'm going to buy a new vinyl top for it.    he also found some sections where screws were completely missing.

Doug Did you ever work this out? Mine did the same thing a couple of years back. I found that the screws holding the motor to the inner roof had come loose. One of the four, was missing, and the other three were ready to fall out. After replacing the missing one, and tightening all, I was back in business. the hardest part was carefully pulling the headliner loose enough to give me the needed access.

Don't know if it a late response and you have found the problem....but, I have the same roof, the crank Big Al is referring too is a simple allen key. You should have a circular plastic cover on the the headliner. It is towards the rear and center of the car. Remove that cap and put the allen key into it. I don't know the size of the allen key off hand. Once you find the right one try cranking it either way. It should close. I have to do that with mine to completely close it. The fabric on the outside has shrunk and it applies pressure on the track. To get to the motor or any other part for this sunroof well, sorry buddy.....bad news, as you have to remove the headliner. Its a pain. Hope this helps

O K, l assume the crank is to be used when your power fails

If it is really stuck, maybe try a BFH

Good luck

Do you have the hand crank to close it if you lose your power?
